180: September 29, 2013
180: September 29, 2013I like the busy-ness of today’s photo, despite the fact that it doesn’t crop properly. I’m almost at the halfway point, and I’m preparing something big for day 182.5 … you excited?

174: September 23, 2013
174: September 23, 2013Happy Monday!
173: September 22, 2013
173: September 22, 2013The rain let up for the day, thank goodness. A beautiful Sunday, and we headed out to Springridge Farm. Totally worth the drive out for weekends in the fall!
172: September 21, 2013
172: September 21, 2013The last day of summer, and I spent it enjoying a sunset rainbow on the beach. How did you spend it?
171: September 20, 2013
171: September 20, 2013One more day of summer left. How are you going to spend it?
170: September 19, 2013
170: September 19, 2013Hazy September afternoons.
169: September 18, 2013
169: September 18, 2013The end of summer is officially only a few days away. Get out there and enjoy the last few days!
168: September 17, 2013
168: September 17, 2013I spent a large portion of today working on a time lapse video for this project. And I can’t wait until its done. How was your Tuesday?
167: September 16, 2013
167: September 16, 2013Keep on keepin’ on, my friends.

164: September 13, 2013
164: September 13, 2013Friday the thirteenth was extremely unlucky for me. How about you?
163: September 12, 2013
163: September 12, 2013A tour group came through the neighbourhood right at the time I went to take today’s photo. That’s a first!
162: September 11, 2013
162: September 11, 2013Was it the calm before the storm, or the calm after one?
161: September 10, 2013
161: September 10, 2013A heat advisory day on September 10? I’ll take that. Hope you enjoyed it!
160: September 9, 2013
160: September 9, 2013I can’t wait until the supposed heat advisory day tomorrow. Day off in the sunshine? I think so.
159: September 8, 2013
159: September 8, 2013Sunday FUNday! The beach was bustlin’ today.
158: September 7, 2013
158: September 7, 2013What a rainy, rainy TIFF-tastic day.
157: September 6, 2013
157: September 6, 2013I’ve got the September blues, and I think the feeling of the fall air isn’t helping that much. Are you excited about TIFF?
156: September 5, 2013
156: September 5, 2013Sunsets and sailboats. Today is my Sunday night. Anyone else have a Monday Friday?
155: September 4, 2013
155: September 4, 2013An absolutely beautiful day today, yet I spent most of it inside updating LauraPedersen.ca. A photographer’s gotta survive some how, right? Hope you had a good one, Toronto.
154: September 3, 2013
154: September 3, 2013The first time ever that a runner has fit the framing for this project perfectly by directly running across the grass. Awesome.
153: September 2, 2013
153: September 2, 2013It’s beginning to feel a lot like fall.So heartbreaking. Happy unofficial last day of summer.
152: September 1, 2013
152: September 1, 2013Happy September 1! Although, I find the arrival of September depressing. Summer is my favourite season, and I automatically associate the S-word with the impending doom of winter time. I guess that comes from so many years spent in Alberta winters.
151: August 31, 2013
151: August 31, 2013Summer is quickly running away from us. Happy last day of August. I hope you’re enjoying the long weekend!

147: August 27, 2013
147: August 27, 2013Foggy morning. Wake up, sleepyheads!
146: August 26, 2013

142: August 22, 2013Still at a loss for words. Hello, Thursday.
141: August 21, 2013
141: August 21, 2013I really am at a loss for words today. Since I always talk about the weather, I’m going to refrain from talking about just how awesome it was.(See what I did there?)
140: August 20, 2013
140: August 20, 2013Another nighttime shot from a busy day. Hope you had a great Tuesday!
139: August 19, 2013
139: August 19, 2013Monday, Monday, Monday!
138: August 18, 2013
138: August 18, 2013For obvious reasons, I hereby dub today “Speedo Sunday.”It seems that today was the perfect weather for speedos, because I saw them all over the neighbourhood today. Wear sunscreen!
137: August 17, 2013
137: August 17, 2013Happy Saturday! I don’t have much to say due to being under the weather. Hope your day was livelier than mine!
136: August 16, 2013
136: August 16, 2013What a wonderful spot for a yoga circle!
135: August 15, 2013
135: August 15, 2013I’m a little late on this one. I ended up at the hospital last night. Don’t worry about it, I’m honestly fine. I suppose it is a half-decent excuse for posting a day late.
134: August 14, 2013
134: August 14, 2013I feel like I’m always saying something about the weather. So here’s something about frisbee!
133: August 13, 2013
133: August 13, 2013Cloudy skies and colder temperatures. Oh weather, work with me please.
132: August 12, 2013
132: August 12, 2013A photo at dusk tonight. Some days the time just flies by.
131: August 11, 2013
131: August 11, 2013What a gorgeous morning down at the beach.
130: August 10, 2013
130: August 10, 2013Happy Saturday! I just want to point out that Sharknado will be on Discovery Channel tonight as a part of shark week. Are you excited?
129: August 9, 2013
129: August 9, 2013Lots of boats out on this beautiful Friday. How do you plan on spending your weekend?
128: August 8, 2013
128: August 8, 2013A good day for some beach baseball!
127: August 7, 2013
127: August 7, 2013Bird-pocalypse! I’ve seen lots of birds fly by the station in the past, but the amount today far surpassed my previous experiences.
126: August 6, 2013
126: August 6, 2013Today is a beautiful day! I hope you got out there to enjoy it.
125: August 5, 2013
125: August 5, 2013Happy Simcoe Day, Toronto! I hope you got some quality time off on this long weekend.
124: August 4, 2013
124: August 4, 2013What has happened to all of the hot summer heat? I miss the days of not having to wear a sweater after sunset! Come back, hot weather.
123: August 3, 2013
123: August 3, 2013Happy Saturday! And remember to avoid the Lakeshore today. Unless you’re down there partying it up!
122: August 2, 2013
122: August 2, 2013..Minutes down the road I panicked, realizing I hadn’t grabbed my Leuty project photo for the day.
121: August 1, 2013
121: August 1, 2013A new month is upon us! Welcome, August!
120: July 31, 2013
120: July 31, 2013Such a perfect day to stay indoors and watch movies. So that’s exactly what we did!
119: July 30, 2013
119: July 30, 2013What a wonderful day to head out to the water!Yesterday I realized that my nine-year-old converse shoes had finally given their last breath. It’s possible that I may be able to repair them, but they certainly won’t ever look the same. It’s silly to love a pair of shoes, but I don’t think I’ve ever owned an item of “clothing” that long in my life. I remember being in high school, and buying them with money earned from mowing lawns. I’m sorry that you ripped in half, dear converse. Thank you for nine years of memories, I hope we can have a bit more time together. I’m sorry if you have to become duct-taped.
118: July 29, 2013
118: July 29, 2013Yet another rainy Monday. Rainy days never leave me with much to say.
117: July 28, 2013
117: July 28, 2013An absolutely BEAUTIFUL day to enjoy the Beaches Jazz Fest – or even just the area in general! Dance into the night, Toronto!
116: July 27, 2013
116: July 27, 2013Were you out at the Beaches Jazz Fest today? What a great festival. Today’s photo is from the late morning when things were just getting going as I had to head off to work, but I still had a wonderful time. How can you complain when you’ve got great tunes and some yummy food along with such a beautiful backdrop?
115: July 26, 2013
115: July 26, 2013TGIF! Let the real jazz fest festivities begin!
114: July 25, 2013
114: July 25, 2013The Beaches Jazz Fest streetfest began tonight! I wasn’t able to make it down, but I hope all of you who went had fun! Happy Thursday.
113: July 24, 2013
113: July 24, 2013For some reason the song “Closing Time” by Semisonic has been on repeat in my head since getting today’s photo. I arrived right as the lifeguards were locking the doors to the lifeguard station – and now, a throwback song from the nineties is clouding my brain.
112: July 23, 2013
112: July 23, 2013What a wonderful day to be feeling better!
111: July 22, 2013
111: July 22, 2013Another day that figuratively “went to the birds”.
110: July 21, 2013
110: July 21, 2013Was hard to spend a lot of time on a photo today, as I have a splitting migraine that just won’t go away.Somewhere on my block an alarm is going off and has been for over half an hour. Someone’s really got to shut that off.
109: July 20, 2013
109: July 20, 2013It’s Saturday, and I’m sitting in traffic trying to head out of town for the day. Do people really do this every time they want to go north of the city on the weekend?
108: July 19, 2013
108: July 19, 2013Rise and shine, Toronto!
107: July 18, 2013
107: July 18, 2013I had no idea that the beach had extended hours during a heat wave. Hence my surprise to still see the lifeguards out at 8:30pm. I hope everyone’s staying cool during this weather! For some reason, the muggyness/dampness of today drove me to do hours of laundry. I’m sure I’ll just have to redo half of it in a few days anyways. C’est la vie!
106: July 17, 2013
106: July 17, 2013Do you like humidity? You would have loved today.
105: July 16, 2013
105: July 16, 2013Such a beautiful hot (more like boiling) day.I got to enjoy this gorgeous day down at the beach with a good friend before she moves away from Toronto. I can’t believe how wonderful the water feels on such a hot day.
104: July 15, 2013
104: July 15, 2013Some days it can be extremely difficult to get that right shot, even when there are people everywhere around this spot. And other days, it can be extremely easy to get a good shot, even when the weather is boiling hot.theheathasgottentomyhead
103: July 14, 2013
103: July 14, 2013Even though its Sunday, it is technically my Friday. So, happy Friday to me!
102: July 13, 2013
102: July 13, 2013Busy, beautiful Saturday. I really love the hot weather. I’ll probably change my mind on that one day when I’m boiling, but I will take the heat over the snow any day.
101: July 12, 2013
101: July 12, 2013Early-ish morning photo today, even though I am posting it roughly 12 hours later.
100: July 11, 2013
100: July 11, 2013Day ONE HUNDRED!!! I’m still truckin’ on with this project.I know, I know, corny pun.In all seriousness, I can’t believe I’ve made it this far in the project. And I can’t believe how lucky I am to have people like you reading this. Yes, I mean you. Thank you all x100!
099: July 10, 2013
099: July 10, 2013Symmetry.I am still exhausted from my whirlwind trip to Montreal. For most of the day I forgot that today was actually Wednesday. I think at one point I was dating things for June too. I think its time for some catch up sleep!
098: July 9, 2013
098: July 9, 2013Tonight’s photo is a late one, but a different one. For once I lucked out and got a late-night photo with people in it.
097: July 8, 2013
097: July 8, 2013Apparently Toronto is flooding right now? I had to get up extremely early this morning to get today’s shot, as I had to head out of town for the day. This photo feels slightly irrelevant now that I have heard the news about the torrential downpour. I hope you’re all safe! Remember, don’t drive through a puddle if you don’t know how deep it is.
096: July 7, 2013
096: July 7, 2013This project has brought me some absolutely wonderful experiences. I am just so tired after a long day of work that I don’t even know how to begin to gather my thoughts to explain my day.(Working on stories of the Asiana plane crash in San Francisco has drained me!)To the fantastic group of people that I met at the beach today: thank you for livening my Sunday, and making me in a good mood before heading into work!Sneaking this post in just under the wire again today. Tomorrow’s post will be bright and early. So early, I don’t even know if the sun will be up yet!
095: July 6, 2013
095: July 6, 2013I’ve had a whirlwind of a day, hence why this post is sneaking in just before the midnight mark. Hope you had a great Saturday!
094: July 5, 2013
094: July 5, 2013I love how eerie the lake looks on days like today. It may be a little gloomy, but there is something beautiful about when the sky and the water perfectly blend to an almost white backdrop. Don’t get me wrong, though, I’m also happy its not like this every day.Hope you had a cheerful Friday despite all the rain!
093: July 4, 2013
093: July 4, 2013More haze, more people walking dogs, and (I think) someone doing exercises on a paddle board.Happy fourth of July to my American friends!
092: July 03, 2013
092: July 03, 2013Another muggy, hazy day. Happy hump day!
091: July 2, 2013
091: July 2, 2013The Tuesday after a long weekend is always such a let down. Quiet, hazy day.
090: July 1, 2013
090: July 1, 2013HAPPY CANADA DAY! And, happy day NINETY to the Leuty Project! I can’t believe I’ve made it this far. A huge thank you to everyone who has taken even one day to check out this project. Even one click, one follow, or one mention about this project has been a huge support to me.
089: June 30, 2013
089: June 30, 2013Happy Sunday Toronto! Another short update on a very busy day.Are you ready for Canada Day?
088: June 29, 2013
088: June 29, 2013Sleepy Saturday leading up to Canada Day in the beach! Is anyone else excited to see more fireworks?
087: June 28, 2013
087: June 28, 2013I spent the majority of my day doing summer cleaning. I can’t believe how much time it can take! Oh well, what a great way to spend a rainy day. Combine that with an early-morning also-rainy bike ride, and I’m exhausted.
086: June 27, 2013
086: June 27, 2013I don’t have anything witty to say today. Feeling tired on a day off, so I’m dragging my feet.
085: June 26, 2013
085: June 26, 2013I got my wishes, today is a much sunnier day! And, my mood has lifted with it.Drink water, folks.
084: June 25, 2013
084: June 25, 2013The mood of today’s photo echoes the mood I’m feeling on this previously-gloomy-yet-now-cleared-up-slightly day. Here’s hoping tomorrow is a little more sunny for all of us.
083: June 24, 2013
083: June 24, 2013I’m still really heated about the whole car getting hit and run situation yesterday. Get it, heated? On that note, drink lots of water today everyone. Heat warning in the city!
082: June 23, 2013
082: June 23, 2013I had a piece of my faith in humanity taken away from me today.
081: June 22, 2013
081: June 22, 2013What a crazy experience I had today. Every time I would attempt to head out for today’s photo, the rain would start before I’d even left the front door and I would head back inside, opting to wait for a less damp moment. My judgement of the weather clearly ended up failing me.After getting a call for a job this evening, I decided it was about time I got myself in gear and head down to the lifeguard station for today’s photo. As I got closer, I became intrigued by the crowd of people on the beach. It didn’t take long to realize that wedding vows were being spoken into a microphone.
080: June 21, 2013
080: June 21, 2013Something a little unexpected was down at the lifeguard station today. We woke up this morning to find out that news happened closer to home than usual, which reminded me of many mornings in Edmonton in particular.Stranger things have happened in my career, but needless to say, I wasn’t expecting work to follow me home.
079: June 20, 2013
079: June 20, 2013Tomorrow is the first day of summer. So, in honour of that, I plan on spending a large part of the day relaxing at the beach. This is by far my favourite season.
078: June 19, 2013
078: June 19, 2013I’m walking on sunshine, whoa – ooh – oh. Happy Wednesday.
077: June 18, 2013
077: June 18, 2013Another absolutely beautiful day in Toronto. Sunshine, stay with us.
076: June 17, 2013
076: June 17, 2013Look, Ma! No hands!
075: June 16, 2013
075: June 16, 2013Happy Father’s Day everyone! The rain seems to have gone away, and it is turning into an absolutely beautiful day to get out there and enjoy the weather. Sending lots of love to all the wonderful fathers out there.
074: June 15, 2013
074: June 15, 2013I’m having serious internet/website problems with my personal site right now, so I can’t think of anything to say. Other than maybe if you want to cross your fingers for me? What a nightmare. However, it was beautiful out today.
073: June 14, 2013
073: June 14, 2013It’s Friday night, and I’m feelin’ all right. This girl’s got the idea, it’s time to relax.
072: June 13, 2013
072: June 13, 2013Rainy mornings bring such beautiful colour to the lake.
071: June 12, 2013
071: June 12, 2013Happy Wednesday! What a beautiful, beautiful day.
070: June 11, 2013
070: June 11, 2013Dogs, babies and lifeguards. All for day seventy.Sometimes I have a lot to say and sometimes I have very little. I just want to thank all of you who have taken a moment to look at this project. Whether I know you or not, it means a lot to me even to have had all of you take even one glimpse at this project. It really means a lot to me.
069: June 10, 2013
069: June 10, 2013Today wasn’t a great day for me. I hope it went better for you.The rain and wind combined pushed the tree branches down to a point where the lifeguard station was almost completely unrecognizable, so I had to kneel a little further than I would normally like. But, what can you do, right?
068: June 9, 2013
068: June 9, 2013I spent a good amount of time down at the lifeguard station today trying to capture all of the beautiful sailboats. I still feel like a child every time I see a big sailboat out on the lake. It’s something I didn’t grow up around, and because of that will likely be excited every time I see one.Luckily, I spent so much time trying to get the right moment that before I knew it, two big sailboats crossed paths directly behind the station. All while a lifeguard was leaning in the door frame. How could you NOT get a beautiful photo out of that? That basically sums up how wonderful today was.
067: June 8, 2013
067: June 8, 2013Sittin’ on top of the world.Just another Saturday at the beach.
066: June 7, 2013
066: June 7, 2013Today is a beautiful day, despite the grey skies.
065: June 6, 2013
065: June 6, 2013My day has literally gone to the birds, so I felt like this photo was appropriate for today.
064: June 5, 2013
064: June 5, 2013A quick shot today before heading off to work. Strange to have made it to the beach before the lifeguards for once lately! Happy Wednesday.
063: June 4, 2013
063: June 4, 2013I can’t help but wonder how many times the Leuty Lifeguard Station has been photographed since the beginning of its existence. Anyone want to take a guess?
062: June 3, 2013
062: June 3, 2013No matter how you try to disguise it, a Monday will always be a Monday.
061: June 2, 2013
061: June 2, 2013Welcome to Sunday, Toronto.I don’t have anything witty to say, and I tried to canvas everyone at work for a creative idea. But clearly we are all feeling too tired. It’s one of those days.
060: June 1, 2013
060: June 1, 2013Two whole months of this project are behind me now.
059: May 31, 2013
059: May 31, 2013I hope you wore sunscreen today!A late update today, as I was out enjoying the day.Hello June, I’ve been waiting for you.
058: May 30, 2013
058: May 30, 2013A hazy thirty degree day.
057: May 29, 2013
057: May 29, 2013It rained cats and dogs last night.Get it? Ha!
056: May 28, 2013
056: May 28, 2013Rain, rain go away, come again another day. It’s so hard to be motivated on cloudy, rainy days. Everyone be careful driving tonight, Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for dense fog patches in Toronto and area.
055: May 27, 2013
055: May 27, 2013An evening photo for today. We decided to take the day off today to go to Canada’s Wonderland. What a blast.
054: May 26, 2013
054: May 26, 2013And so ends an insanely busy weekend.
053: May 25, 2013
053: May 25, 2013Long and strange shadows as the sun sets at the end of a very long Saturday. That’s all for today.
052: May 24, 2013
052: May 24, 2013A slow afternoon down at the beach.I’m not excited about this cold weather that is in store for the weekend. If we ignore it, it will just go away, right?
051: May 23, 2013
051: May 23, 2013I’m just having one of those days where I don’t know what to say.Tomorrow’s Friday, and thank goodness for that. Have a good night, Toronto!
050: May 22, 2013
050: May 22, 2013There are days when everything goes right, and there are days when everything goes wrong.Today, everything was going wrong. But that’s okay, if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it is that the sun will always rise tomorrow morning.I hope your half sunny/half rainy day was half full instead of half empty.
049: May 21, 2013
049: May 21, 2013Welcome to the after-Victoria day fireworks post of the Leuty Project!
048: May 20, 2013
048: May 20, 2013HAPPY VICTORIA DAY!
047: May 19, 2013
047: May 19, 2013A lifeguard, a police officer, and an elliptigo. That sounds like the start to a really bad joke.Happy Sunday of the long weekend. I can’t wait for a beautiful day off of picnics, fireworks, and hopefully lots of sunshine tomorrow. Hopefully you will be able to enjoy yourself too.
046: May 18, 2013
046: May 18, 2013Lots more activity at the Lifeguard Station today. Not only was the boardwalk packed, but there was obvious activity inside (and on top of) the station. To me, this means a SURE sign of summer. Now, let’s all do our anti-rain dances to scare away the possibility of any rain on Victoria Day.
045: May 17, 2013
045: May 17, 2013Something simple on this Friday before the long weekend.Apparently there was an earthquake this morning that could be felt as far as Toronto. We certainly didn’t feel anything – but still crazy to hear about!Until tomorrow.
044: May 16, 2013
044: May 16, 2013I just so happened to head down for today’s photo at the exact same moment two Toronto Mounted Police were out with their horses on the sand. What a great way to sum up a wonderful day.
043: May 15, 2013
043: May 15, 2013Something completely different for this Wednesday.Obviously they are doing more work down by the Lifeguard Station. I’m still not 100% sure what exactly, seeing as how that is clearly not my line of expertise. However, it keeps making for something different to capture.Get out there and enjoy this beautiful weather. After all, only work and no play leaves for a boring day.
042: May 14, 2013
042: May 14, 2013I want to say happy Tuesday, but after last night’s game, its more of a mediocre Tuesday.Hope you’re all recovering nicely! Here’s to baseball season.
041: May 13, 2013
041: May 13, 2013Happy Monday everyone!Game 7 between the Leafs and the Bruins is just minutes away. Everyone enjoy yourselves and be safe if you’re headed out to watch it.
040: May 12, 2013
040: May 12, 2013Also, happy game six day. I know there’s a lot of Leafs fans very anxiously glued to their TVs right now. (Or down at the ACC either inside or on the streets.) Enjoy yourselves everyone, but please be safe.
039: May 11, 2013
039: May 11, 2013Happy Saturday! Its good to see a lot of people taking advantage of this slightly rainy day. A lot of bikers went past me today with tennis rackets in tow. A little rain can’t stop Torontonians!
038: May 10, 2013
038: May 10, 2013A rainy Friday, but a beautiful one nonetheless.I’m currently trying to dry off, so I don’t have much to say. Here’s to the weekend ahead!
037: May 9, 2013
037: May 9, 2013Another day of construction on the sand.I’m not entirely sure what they are doing still, as I had to head out of town for a shoot this morning. I’m sure time will tell, however.
036: May 8, 2013
036: May 8, 2013Something a little different for today. It seems as though they are doing some work on the beach this afternoon. I am so sunburnt from yesterday that even my clothing feels as though it is on fire.Wear sunscreen, world.
035: May 7, 2013
035: May 7, 2013The sky and the water appeared to be as “one” today. Paddleboarders and boats alike looked like ghosts floating through the air.
034: May 6, 2013
034: May 6, 2013I’ve hit a temporary writer’s block as to what to say about the Leuty Lifeguard Station photo today. It’s clear that it was a gorgeous day yet again. It really is nice to see people out suntanning or setting up beach umbrellas. This is definitely the lead up to my favourite season, even with the humidity and all.
033: May 5, 2013
033: May 5, 2013Happy Cinco de Mayo Toronto! It is another beautiful (dare I say summer-esque) day, and I am thrilled to have had the entire evening to spend it in the neighbourhood.Queen street was bustling, the boardwalk was packed, and it was just a perfect day to lay in the sun.About time.
032: May 4, 2013
032: May 4, 2013Sailboats are more beautiful in full mast, but it still makes me happy just to see them out on the water again.
031: May 3, 2013
031: May 3, 2013I don’t know who flipped the “warm weather” switch, but I hope they keep it on.I think this weekend calls for a good barbecue dinner.Who’s in? Happy Friday!
030: May 2, 2013
030: May 2, 2013I’m starting to notice a lot more activity out on the lake these days.I can’t wait until it is warm enough to just veg out on the beach for a full day.
029: May 1, 2013
029: May 1, 2013It truly is a wonderful day in the neighbourhood.
028: April 30, 2013
028: April 30, 2013Rise and shine, Toronto.
027: April 29, 2013
027: April 29, 2013I couldn’t help but laugh at the image of this owner trying to drag his dog down the boardwalk today. Mostly because I felt just like the dog.
026: April 28, 2013
026: April 28, 2013Apparently it’s the weekend of kites.
025: April 27, 2013
025: April 27, 2013Have you ever interrupted your Saturday morning shower just to run outside and take a photo? I did just that today.I could see kites in the sky down by the water this morning, and due to the angle which I saw it from the street was far too enthusiastic and thought they were directly in front of the lifeguard station. No dice.
024: April 26, 2013
024: April 26, 2013Last night was a full moon, which might explain some of the chaos news-wise that happened around the city all evening. And it might explain why I felt a little over-adventurous.
023: April 25, 2013
023: April 25, 2013It’s amazing how this project has already grabbed such a hold of me in such a small period of time. Originally just an idea somewhat to keep myself busy, I find myself getting just as emotionally involved with this as I do on my day-to-day assignments.
022: April 24, 2013
022: April 24, 2013April showers should bring May flowers, right? Here’s hoping we are on that track.I’m just happy that the parka has been hung up for the time being – and I’m guessing everyone else is happy too. There were a lot of umbrellas in the neighbourhood today, but very few people actually braved the boardwalk in the temporary torrential downfall. Which is completely understandable.Until tomorrow, stay dry! (And thank you to my new followers!!!)
021: April 23, 2013
021: April 23, 2013I never cease to be amazed when the old “f/8-and-be-there” happens to hold true. This was literally my first frame today, I hadn’t even taken time to adjust my camera from the last setting I was on. Apparently at 6pm in the beach the light is identical to the indoor studio lights from last night.I better not lose my good luck charm any time soon.
020: April 22, 2013
020: April 22, 2013I think summer wedding season has already begun down in the beach!
019: April 21, 2013
019: April 21, 2013If he wasn’t around to take these pictures, we’d be missing a few days of imagery, and that defeats the purpose of this project.
018: April 20, 2013

017: April 19, 2013
017: April 19, 2013I’m a few days behind in updating these last few pictures, unfortunately. They were all shot on the appropriate days, but with the Junos this weekend I ended up with less time than I had expected to get these images online.
016: April 18, 2013
016: April 18, 2013My creativity seems to have been packed in my suitcase already.
015: April 17, 2013
015: April 17, 2013Another gorgeous day. The sidewalks and streets were packed today with people enjoying the warm sunshine. How could you not want to go outside in this weather?I hope all of you were able to enjoy at least a few minutes outdoors today. On my way home from a photo assignment this afternoon, I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of some beautiful kite flying. It wasn’t in the right spot to catch the daily Lifeguard Station photo, but there’s no rule against moving around for a second photo.
014: April 16, 2013
014: April 16, 2013What a beautiful day. Despite periods of rain, it really is feeling like spring. The grass is getting greener and the trees are starting to bloom. It’s only a matter of time till summer.
013: April 15, 2013
013: April 15, 2013Lucky number 13!I’m under the weather today, so I wasn’t able to spend much time waiting for a photo. I can only imagine that as the day went on and the temperatures rose, the boardwalk got busier.I was able to catch a glimpse of some kite boarding, however!
Day012.jpeg
Day012.jpegI’m not feeling well at all, so I don’t have much to say today.I hope you’re having a beautiful Sunday. Stay healthy.
011: April 13, 2013
011: April 13, 2013The weather needs to stop flip-flopping. I’d much prefer flip flop weather.Today just wasn’t my day. Starting off with sleeping through my alarm and ending with leaving my umbrella on the streetcar, it was just a spiral of minor yet frustrating events. You know how some days you wish for a do-over? I’m wishing for a never-do-again.Tomorrow is always a new day.
Day 010: April 12, 2013
Day 010: April 12, 2013What a perfect Friday to hide indoors.I woke up to a text this morning from my significant other alerting me of the waves down by the water. He had caught a glimpse of them on his way in to work and knew what my reaction would be.I don’t think I’ve ever rushed out the door so quickly. In too much of a rush to properly search for my rain covers, I did the old fail safe emergency plastic bag surgery on the Nikon, combined with a hair elastic and backup scarf. I’m telling you, people in the area must think I am insane.I don’t think I’ve ever been so willing to stand in inclement weather with my camera. Half an hour later with my jacket now sacrificed to protect the camera instead of myself (with me subsequently drenched from head to toe), I finally realized that every image could be a good one today. What can I say? I’m still infatuated with waves. If you ever see a drowned blonde wandering around with what appears to be a winter jacket with a lens hood attached to the end of it, don’t worry.
Day 009: April 11, 2013
Day 009: April 11, 2013Snowmageddon is so last month. Welcome to ice-pellet-mageddon.According to the weather network, deadly ice triangles are falling from the sky in Toronto this morning/afternoon.I couldn’t help but wonder what it would have looked like if someone had pointed their camera at me today, all bundled up and protecting my gear with an oversized Victoria’s Secret umbrella. I’m sure I stood out like a sore thumb while I was out there.Let the record stand, those deadly triangles of ice actually hurt when they hit you in the face.
008: April 10, 2013
008: April 10, 2013Something different for a rainy day.I would still take rain over snow any day. I’m headed to the prairies for a photo job later this month, and I’ve been periodically checking temperatures online. I’ve been seeing the “feels like” results of -14 and -16 all this week. Crazy. I’ve only lived out east for just over a year, but I’m definitely already spoiled.Hopefully I didn’t just jinx things, apparently we are under a severe weather watch.
007: April 9, 2013
007: April 9, 2013Another beautiful afternoon.Seven full days of this project are now under my belt. Which is to me a small accomplishment. They say it takes awhile to build up a routine, but this already feels like a natural part of my day. Maybe because taking photos every day is just part of who I am.See you in (my) week two.
006: April 8, 2013
006: April 8, 2013April showers appear to be on their way.I think I have a bad case of the Mondays. I couldn’t seem to find anything other than people walking their dogs today. I do wish I could have made it down to the lifeguard station during one of the on-again off-again bouts of rain we received this afternoon, but I had to head downtown before the weather pattern hit.Chances are I’ll be able to get some rainy moments later in the week.Stay dry, Toronto!(But if you feel like it, please feel free to enjoy the rain down in the beaches!)
005: April 7, 2013
005: April 7, 2013Praise the skies.Today actually felt like a beautiful spring day. The snow fence has officially been removed from the beach. Which, I suppose is not a good thing for off leash dogs, but I feel like it is a sign of beautiful weather to come. Now we just need to work on bringing the sun out from behind those clouds.I apologise for the extremely late update today. My web host was down for several hours, and I obsessively started checking the site until it was back online. Technology really sucks sometimes.
004: April 6, 2013
004: April 6, 2013I happened upon the Beaches Spring Sprint this morning purely by chance.
003: April 5, 2013
003: April 5, 2013After a long day at work, I felt my mood turn to instant-cranky as the light changed too fast, the wind picked up and my gloves didn’t keep any warmth. Even in the darkness there can be a shining light. Does that sound too corny? Oh well, it works. You can’t tell, but the snow fence is half taken-down in front of the lifeguard station. Just the posts are left. Here’s hoping that means warm weather is on the way. Or at least longer sunsets.
002: April 4, 2013
002: April 4, 2013Day two. So far, so good. With every idea comes an evolution, and this project may undergo some changes through its initial development. Today I was stopped by a woman who asked me what I was trying to capture. Pointing at the lifeguard house, I told her quickly what I was doing, even though thousands of photos of the station already existed online.“That’s okay,” she replied. “It’s all about your personal take on it.”She is exactly right. This is one of the main goals of this project. We see this lifeguard station day after day. Whether it has been photographed once or ten thousand times, every image will be different. In the coming days, there may be a refining process brought to this project. But for now, welcome to day two.
001: April 3, 2013
001: April 3, 2013So begins a new adventure. A greater explanation will come soon, but for now, the important thing is to get the project going. We live in a beautiful world. That’s what all of this is really about.
